Shoreline leisure activities, like swimming at the beach or snorkeling, are strongly related to family vacation. Unfortunately, according to the World Health Organization, drowning is still the 2nd leading cause of injury death to children in Europe and the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury worldwide. In fact, “drowning incidents may occur silently within seconds in as little as 2 cm of water”. On the other hand, sparsely located lifeguards, if present, usually supervise lengthy and heavily-populated coastal areas, making extremely difficult to identify potential hazardous incidents.
BLEeper is an IoT solution for enhancing child-safety exclusively across coastlines (e.g. beaches), by enabling wide-area location tracking with low-cost wearables (e.g. wristbands). A coastal grid of IoT solar-powered water-proof beacons detects all proximate wearables, and delivers their location in real-time to edge devices (e.g. smartphones). BLEeper can be used in shoreline venues (e.g. family hotels) and public coastal areas for enhancing precaution measures against hazardous incidents.
BLEeper is looking for partners that would like to further invest on its solution for coastal safety. BLEeper will be offered as a service to shoreline businesses (e.g. leisure hotels, waterparks, water-sport providers) and public authorities that are responsible for tourism, in in order to enhance precaution measures against potentially hazardous incidents across the coastline (e.g. private / public beaches).
BLEeper would like to collaborate with its partners to further test and improve its currently implemented solution.
