Prof. Hehsam Eldeeb talked about how they built an Industry Link for Academic Clusters & The Startups Incubator Program. The TARIEIC Incubation Program, an innovative resource with a mission to foster the growth of the competitiveness of the research-industrial innovation cooperation in electronics sector in Egypt, Renewable Energy, Smart Sensors and the Environmental Challenges. Prof. Avi Mendelson - Prof. Avi Mendelson talked about investment in the HPC related innovation activities within the context of Eurolab4HPC. Eurolab4HPC is a project, focused on strengthening academic research excellence and innovation in HPC in Europe. The HPC research centers or start-ups face different challenges because of its specific activity. It is sometimes hard to persuade venture capitalists or angel investors to invest in the product or the start-up in this area because of the lack of immediate ROI. Some suggestions concerning this came from the audience:

  • Make hpc more interesting by more communication and making the step to market easier and quicker.
  • Present more mature technologies to the VC.
  • Try to translate HPC into something that speaks to them.

Coordinator of the workshop Koen Bertels summed it up nicely at the end: "Its international collaboration what we need!"
